Last October, we reported that free Wi-Fi internet is available at all JR train stations in Tokyo, Japan, a country where it’s near impossible to obtain a sim card or connect to public free mobile internet. Now, there’s an even easier way to get connected. Made available by mobile operator NTT East, visitors can register to get a free Wi-Fi card at NTT East counters at Haneda and Narita international airports. After you log on with the ID and password appearing on the card, you’re able to access more than 17,000 Wi-Fi spots in the eastern region of Japan (Tokyo, Saitama, Kokkaido, Niigata, for instance) for 14 days. The service will be made available throughout Japan in the near future. More information, instructions and a complete list of NTT East Wi-Fi spots at http://tinyurl.com/freewifiNTTeast.
