This part of town has come up in the world since Marienbad opened, meaning that the cafe is now no longer the only kid on the block. However, thanks to its wood paneled walls, strong WiFi and soft jazz music, it holds its own among the new restaurants, yoga studios and delis that now cluster on the Wukang/Anfu crossroads. 

Marienbad has two terraces - one looking onto Anfu Lu and the other tucked away in back. Inside there are six small tables along the wall kitted out with plug sockets, and tables with armchairs dotted around. Full length windows allow you to watch life pass by on Anfu Lu, and a well stocked bar is helmed by friendly staff. The food menu covers simple sandwiches and Asian sets, while the drink list has the usual array of tea, coffee, juice and alcohol.

Great for a laptop session as well as a leisurely afternoon coffee and a chat, Marienbad is a solid choice.
