They’re playing a whole different ballgame at this branch of Windows Scoreboard. If you avoid the other locations because of their booming, predictable hip hop and youthful clientele, you won’t be turned off from Scoreboard. Windows and Windows Too have offered cheap drinks without a hint of pretension for a long time, and this formula for success remains the same at Scoreboard, with ¥10 drinks, cheap draught beers and bottles of booze. The space has a sports bar vibe, with glow-in-the-dark murals of athletes, a long bar and sports onscreen. But this Windows strives to bring decent food and (gasp) ROCK music to the booze-swilling masses. On a recent visit they played a handful of 90s hits, from the Chilli Peppers to Nirvana, then brought on the classics from Creedence to the Stones. There’s also a pool table, cheap burgers and soon-to-be-unveiled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. If you want to feel like a kid again, or you still are one, check out Windows Scoreboard. Like playing air guitar in your underwear, this bar feels good.
